Welcome to the ROTARY world of Lincoln

Rotary international

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Our 4 local Clubs
There are four local clubs in Lincoln, each offer a different focus and opportunity to serve both your local and global communities in times of need.  ⏭

A bit more about
each Club:

The Rotary Club of Lincoln

formed in 1922 and has just celebrated its 101st birthday.

It meets every other Monday lunchtime at 12:30pm at Nightingale House, 116 Nettleham Road, Lincoln, LN2 1RR. Contact can be made via the Lincoln Rotary website or the club secretary, David McKee at david.mckee2@ntlworld.com.

Membership is made up of friendly supportive people who encourage various services, both in the local area and worldwide. Money is raised throughout the year and donated to charities, as well as support and advice where appropriate.

As we meet at lunchtimes the membership tends to be retired people, but with a lot of “life experience” and energy. Other Rotary groups in the area meet in the evenings. We try to encourage as much membership diversity as we can. We attempt to look after each other as well as others. Although we work hard we do have as much fun as we can. We are non-political and non-religious and believe everyone has a right to their own views on life.

Locally we have helped provide days out for disadvantaged kids, trips and activities for the elderly via “Age Concern”, food bank resources, support groups, disability sports and other help is given in an attempt to live by our motto, “Service Before Self”.

We have done a lot of tree and bulb planting, rewilding assistance and have helped with some other local Lincoln restoration projects.

Long term projects have been, amongst other things, the purchase and distribution of “Shelter Boxes” for various disaster regions of the world. These boxes containing tents, food, water purification, clothing and educational supplies that support families that have lost everything.

Recently, money, clothing, food, medical and other vital supplies have been sent to the Ukraine. Similarly for the recent disaster in Turkey.

The purchase, distribution, and inoculations, against Polio, have also proved very effective on a worldwide basis, to the point where this dreadful disease has almost been eradicated.

We encourage interesting speakers at our meetings and tend to trade knowledge between members. Quite often we promote self help where possible, sometimes by assisted learning experiences. We try very hard to listen to those around us to find out what help is needed.

Come and see what we are like, eat some dinners with us, have some fun. No one will force you to join, or expect any commitment, unless you wish it yourselves. If we are getting it wrong then tell us. We learn the same way as everyone else, by experience, so come and have a go, there is nothing to lose and much to be gained.

The Rotary Club of Bailgate, Lincoln

Focused on:
Disability, Disadvantaged, Health and Social needs of our community and the wider world

A Club which can adapt to the changing circumstances, with the heart to support international requests and local projects across a range of needs. Supporting health and social needs through education and environmental projects such as direct giving equipment to disadvantaged groups in local schools, providing English lessons alongside the Lincoln City FC Foundation, local tree planting as well as support to Ukrainian families and the worldwide shelter box and polio eradication projects.

Through the recent pandemic the Club has provided financial support to women’s aid via Edan Lincs, disabled activity via Sailability, homelessness support via Nomad and the YMCA, and educational support via Linkage and St John Ambulance. It provides hands on support to the Disabled Games and provides welfare service at the Lincolnshire Show.

A Club which can adapt to the changing circumstances, with the heart to support international requests and local projects across a range of needs. A friendly and welcoming club, with an attendance rate of over 75%, the club offers a wide range of informative speakers, fun educational activities, and social events. The club operates as a single business group, enabling all members to have a say in the Club’s activities and charitable endeavours. The Club meets every Wednesday evening at the Lincoln Hotel.

The Rotary Club of Lindum, Lincoln

one of the four Rotary Clubs in Lincoln, somewhat confusingly with a similar title to one of the other clubs. We started in 1991 and so are one of the younger clubs in Lincoln.

We are a friendly diverse group, who have recently expanded with several new members, but what do we do?

Well, we meet weekly (this is not an obligation as not all members can commit each week), but our meetings help with the camaraderie of the group.
We have regular guest speakers on very interesting topics, and once a month we have meetings to plan local community and international projects, which is part of the service we put into society.

Like all Rotary Clubs, we are a non-political, non-gender specific and non-religious organisation and believe everyone has a right to their own views on life.

Locally: We have provided support to Ukrainians who have come to Lincoln, support to local foodbanks, provided rucksacks for homeless people, arrange an annual bowling evening for children from St Francis School, as well as helping with a Days Out trip to Sundown Adventureland for local children.
We have arranged the last two District Disability Games.
We also arrange Young Chef, Young Artist and Young Photographer competitions.

Our newer members have a focus on supporting our service men and women to transition into civilian life.

Environment: We have facilitated the Lincolnshire Environmental awards for over 25 years, which includes a Junior section.

Internationally: We are supporting several projects in Kenya.

Healthwise: We support Shelterbox (an associated charity) which provides emergency tents and equipment to disaster zones around the world). We also support the worldwide Rotary commitment to eradicating Polio, raising funds through a locally produced Christmas card.

Fun: If something is not enjoyable – we will not do it!

We would be very pleased to welcome anyone interested in what we do or joining us (we are always very keen to welcome new members of all ages and gender). We meet on Thursday evenings at 7pm in Lincoln.

The Rotary Club of Colonia, Lincoln

We are the youngest Rotary Club in Lincoln – a mere 25 years old – and very much young at heart.

We are the youngest Rotary Club in Lincoln – a mere 25 years old – and very much young at heart.
Three words sum up our club – fun, fellowship and fundraising.

We have had some wonderful visits to other clubs; Rheims (for the Champagne!), Berlin, Poland, Italy and many other places.

We are an ideas club, We founded the Lincolnshire Sausage festival and the Lincoln Santa Fun Run, both now 20 years in existence. We even organised a flume down steep hill (only once!)

We are committed to working with our local community and have links with Lincoln YMCA and The University of Lincoln. We are also ‘adopters’ at Lincoln Station.
We are an environmentally aware club and recently organised a successful pollinators conference.

As well as raising thousands of pounds for charity, these events have bonded members together with the camaraderie they generate. We are a dual gender club with a 50/50 split women and men.

We have a speaker meeting twice a month (with a 2 course meal) at the Lincoln Hotel, Eastgate, and on other Tuesdays have visits to the theatre or maybe a brewery, or just a ramble.

You will be made very welcome, come and give us a try. Find out more and contact us at www.coloniarotary.co.uk.
